Director
MEng (Hons)
How many years of experience in total?
13 years.
Describe your role at BDI and the key areas you specialise in?
Director leading large projects and below ground drainage design.
What kind of projects do you typically work on?
Larger projects consisting of large one-off bespoke/high-end residential dwellings, multistorey apartment buildings, new residential housing development (structure, drainage, roads), and class Q agricultural to residential conversions.
I also routinely handle the design of bespoke insulated structures such as staircases and canopy frameworks (among others). I have 13 years of design experience working with many different structural material types – ranging from mild steel, aluminium, stainless steel, timber, masonry, structural glass and reinforced concrete.
I also handle below-ground drainage design through our head office, ranging from standalone developments to multi-plot housing development sites, and these vary from SuDS strategies for planning submission through to full detailed technical design.
I often work within multi-disciplinary teams consisting of Architects, Contractors, M&E engineers, Landscape Architects / Designers, Interior Designers and specialist subcontractors such as Steel fabricators.
What do you enjoy most about working at BDI Structural Solutions?
I enjoy solving problems, thinking outside of industry norms to develop technically suitable and cost-effective solutions. I enjoy collaborating with architects, contractors, developers and other design professionals to help hone a fully detailed solution to a given project brief.
What’s been your most memorable project at BDI so far?
My most memorable project is always changing; I believe that an engineer is only as good as their last project. So, I would say my last project is my most favourable/memorable.
