Describe your role at BDI and the key areas you specialise in?

I work with the engineers on the larger projects, compiling schedules, creating drawings & 3D modelling.

Throughout my time here, I’ve developed my skills and knowledge in all areas of structure. My speciality involves using my keen eye for detail, which helps when creating 3D models, steel frame drawings, producing reinforcement drawings & schedules, liaising co-ordination with members of the design team & producing technical approval drawings to adoptable standards.

What kind of projects do you typically work on?

I work with members from all areas of the design team, throughout all phases of the project, working through from early phases of concept design, to the more detailed design for regs approval & co-ordinated construction drawings.

I also provide construction support through the build phase of the project and produce as built drawings for records in handover documents once the project is complete.

My role involves liaising with design team members of all fields within the construction industry, which can include: Architects, M&E engineers, Quantity Surveyors, Contractors, Steel Fabricators & even members of the local authority when producing technical drawings for adopted drainage and highways.

What do you enjoy most about working at BDI Structural Solutions?

There’s a great team around me that I enjoy working with. At BDI, we work on a wide range of projects across the whole industry, and I enjoy the variety, particularly when I work on a historic building that is in desperate need of repair and, as a result, is given a new lease of life.

What’s been your most memorable project at BDI so far?

Over my time here, I’ve worked on so many projects that it’s difficult to pick a favourite. A few that come to mind would be:

Dunham House – conversion of a historic Victorian villa from apartments to a single house.

Finlows Villa – high-end new build.

Wheatsheaf Hotel – Conversion of a historic pub into apartments.

Raglan Road – Conversion of historic Victorian Villa & additional new build apartment building.
